On February 5, ECCK Chairperson Dimitris Psillakis and ECCK President Christoph Heider had a meeting with the British Ambassador to Korea H.E. Simon Smith. The meeting was held to discuss the future relationship between the UK and ECCK upon Brexit.

“The United Kingdom has left the EU, but has not left Europe. ECCK’s membership is wider than the EU and the UK recognizes ECCK’s advocacy power as the voice of its member companies, which is of great importance to the UK,” emphasized the Ambassador during the meeting.

We are looking forward to continuing and in certain areas even strengthening our relationship with the UK. Furthermore, we would like to thank Ambassador H.E. Simon Smith and the British Embassy in Seoul for their cooperation.

The two parties shared the economic outlook and discussed future cooperation between ECCK and FKI.

On January 13, ECCK President Christoph Heider and ECCK Healthcare Committee Director Ansook Park had a meeting with Youngshin Lee, CEO of Korea Research-based Pharma Industry Association (KRPIA) and Sean Kim, Senior Director of KRPIA, at the KRPIA office.

The two sides shared the outlook for 2020 and discussed further cooperation between ECCK and KRPIA this year.

The ECCK  has made an emergency donation of KRW 10 million to Daegu city region to help combat the spread of Covid-19 outbreak on February 24.

The donation was delivered to the Daegu Branch of Korean Red Cross on February 24. It will be used to help to procure masks for the most vulnerable neighbors in Daegu city region.

Dimitris Psillakis, Chairperson of ECCK and President & CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea, said “As a responsible member of Korean society, the ECCK has decided to provide an emergency donation of KRW 10 million in order to support to quickly overcome the spread of the virus.”

On February 11, the 2020 kick-off meeting of ECCK’s Marine & Shipbuilding Committee was held at WeWork Seomyeon branch in Busan. The meeting was joined by Minister Counsellor of Trade and Economy Section at the Delegation of the EU in Korea Mr. Benoit Lory.

During the meeting, the participants discussed developments in and pertinent challenges related to the marine and shipbuilding industry.  The committee members and Mr. Lory spent a fair amount of time engaging in sharing thoughts and suggestions toward the future direction of European companies operating in the marine and shipbuilding sector in Korea.

We appreciate Mr. Lory and committee members for their active participation and look forward to increasing engagement and cooperation with the EU Delation this year.
